Life Science
The successful management of projects in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry relies on experience and familiarity with the products, processes and players unique to this world.
Active experiments, sometimes the career work of senior scientists, are a good example of the unique characteristics of such an organization. The transportation of a “live” experiment to a new location must involve not only the guidance of the scientific staff, but also the coordination of specialized vendors, carefully chosen and closely monitored. Likewise, special handling is dictated for the relocation of test subjects. Given the volume of proprietary documentation supporting this research, security during these moves is also paramount, and the project schedule must allow for continuous visual inspection. Also critical to effectively managing a project in this industry is knowledge of and strict adherence to all applicable governmental regulations.
